V11 Review: Dope ~ Blood Money Pt. 1

Yo! This shit is Dope!

Reuniting after 7 years, Dope is back with their 6th studio album, Blood Money Pt. 1

This album has just the right amount of darkness, high energy and powerful ‘riffage’ to hold my attention. If you know me, you know driving fast is my thing, and this album provides a great soundtrack for doing just that. I turn it up loud and hit the gas. With 14 original tracks, each is a well thought out, well orchestrated masterpiece, and a reminder that heavy metal is alive and well in 2016. For an added bonus, track 15 is a pretty decent cover of Hole’s ‘Violet’ from 1994. I like this version better.

Personally, I prefer the songs with the angrier, grittier vocals like the title track ‘Blood Money’, ‘1999’(shout-out to the sample from the movie Jacob’s Ladder), and ‘Hypocrite’. In its entirety, this is a good album. Buy it! Go see them play!

*The album will be released on October 28th via eOne Music. Fans can Pre-Order the record, along with a plethora of bundle packages, meet and greets, and exclusive new merch designs at www.DopeTheBand.com.

Dope is currently on their Revolver Magazine sponsored “Die Mother Fucker Die” Reunion Tour, featuring support from the bands Flaw and Motograter. The Dope reunion tour features the classic line up of Edsel Dope, Acey Slade, Virus, & Racci Shay. The U.S. portion of the tour goes until October 30th with the final show at the legendary Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. From there the band is off to play 5 shows in Russia and their final show of the tour in London, UK, their only UK date of 2016.

Being in radio since 2001, I decided it was time to play music from bands who play outside the box.
