The inaugural Las Rageous two day musical festival has come and gone, and by all accounts, organizers, promoters, and fans alike have to be thrilled with the overwhelming success of the event. This new festival took place April 21 and 22 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center and welcomed several thousand to the downtown area. Las Rageous delivered a broad array of musical acts, from progressive to thrash and some great radio rock at the festival’s two stages accompanied by food trucks and circus performers.
Friday’s musical acts were headlined by GODSMACK, but leading up to that, there were some memorable performances from thrashers ANTHRAX, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and a fantastic set from COHEED & CAMBRIA. Headliners Godsmack gave their usual impressive set complete with pyro and theatrics, but may be most remembered for Dana White from the UFC donating $10,000.00 to a charity of the band’s choice if they would play “Rocky Mountain Way” after the set had ended.
Saturday had some nice early performance like ESCAPE THE FATE, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, and MASTADON, but a majority of the crowd seemed to be looking forward to the final two huge acts on the night, BREAKING BENJAMIN and AVENGED SEVENFOLD. BRAKING BEMJAMIN delivered with their radio friendly big hits and AVENGED SEVENFOLD delivered with a big stage production, including a huge video screen.
Let’s hope the organizers will bring back this awesome event next year!
